Bruno Mathsson

(Värnamo, 1907 – 1988)

Considered a pioneer of Swedish furniture design, Bruno Mathson was among the first to insert ergonomic shapes in furniture design, marking the transition from geometric functionalism to organic modernism. A great connoisseur of the properties of wood and its processing, he explored new techniques and methodologies in order to create shapes that were both adaptable and functional.
