Carlo Scarpa

(Venezia, 1906 – Sendai, 1978)

Carlo Scarpa played a fundamental role in the panorama of contemporary architecture. He moved with ease from architectural projects to setting ups, from design to glass works, always distinguishing himself for his ability to combine his love for materials with a deep attention to detail. His collaboration with Dino Gavina was significant, for which he signed the Ultrarazionale collection, expressing the need to free himself from the limits of the modern movement. A victory of inventive genius over cold rationalism.
